James Aaron Gray, 72, of New Hope, passed away Friday.
Aaron was born in Cullman, AL. He and his family moved to Huntsville when he was thirteen years old. He graduated from Huntsville High School in 1965. He attended Florence State College. Aaron was in the Army Reserves for 4 years. He married Sherry Merrell in 1969. He was employed by Automatic Electric and later became a Master Plumber and was a member of Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union Local 377. After retiring from the union he started Aaron’s Plumbing Service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to travel and was a certified scuba diver. He coached softball and served as Tournament Director at Fern Bell Park in Huntsville in 1984.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. Gray and Irene Godbee Gray.
Surviving are wife, Sherry Merrell Gray, daughter, Tracy Gray Baughman, daughter, Ashley Gray (Pat) Kennamer, grandchildren, Evan Baughman, Emma Baughman, Elise Kennamer and Ethan Kennamer, brother, Robert E. Gray, brother-in-law, Charles Ray (Betty) Merrell, nephew, Jimmy (LeAnn) Merrell, and niece, Sarah (Karl) Batchelor.
Visitation will be Wednesday 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ with memorial service immediately following. Bro. Harold Kelly and Byrom Goodwin will officiate.
