Elizabeth S. “Libby” Marshall

Elizabeth S. “Libby” Marshall, 77, of Gurley passed away on July 31, 2019. Memorial Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2019 at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel, with entombment immediately following at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Valhalla Funeral Home.
Mrs. Marshall graduated from Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, TN in 1961 and from Knoxville Business College in Knoxville, TN in 1962. She and her husband George were married in Ringgold, GA in 1962. She was an Interpreter for the hearing impaired for the Huntsville City Schools system for many years and retired in 2005. She was an ardent quilter and loved creating beautiful hand-sewn quilts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferd and Georgia Stroupe of Oak Ridge, TN; and a sister, Jean England of Austin, TX. Survivors include her husband, George; sister, Glenna Huggins (Mike) of Soddy-Daisy, TN; and brother, Freddie Stroupe (Norma) of Mt. Juliet, TN; two daughters, Kimberly McLeod (Mike) of Robards, KY and Linda Ganaway (David) of Madison, AL; a son, George Marshall, III (Kaitlyn) of Brighton, CO; as well as four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Hospital for Children or People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
