Mr. Gilbert Burgess, 68, of Woodville, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Danny Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Burgess is survived by his wife, Vida Lavel Chadwick Burgess; children, Misty Michelle Burgess Trivett, Brooke Burgess, Roger Dale Johnson of Woodville, Ernest Daniel (Crystal) Johnson of Blountsville, April Heather (Trey) Doyle of Cullman; grandchildren, Tyler and Dustin Evett of Woodville, Reanna Johnson of Blountsville, Viviann and Lilliann Johnson of Blountsville, Bentlie Bullard, Maddie, Letty, and Loxley Doyle of Cullman; 3 great grandchildren, Colt and Blakley Johnson and Kearstin Rollins; sisters, Betty Ruth Thrasher and Marilyn Wells (Steve); brothers, Joseph Burgess, Julian (Debra) Burgess, and Charles (Kathy) Burgess; sister in laws, Kathy and Jane Burgess; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Prince Albert Burgess and Myrtle Leona Bates Burgess; brothers, Eddie, Bobby, Albert, and Johnny; sister in law, Barbara Burgess; brother in laws, Bill Thrasher and Jack Wells; nephew, Thomas “Bubba” Burgess; and a special friend, Teddy Wallingsford.
