Marcus (Mark) Sims Hardaway passed from this life on June 18, 2019 at HSV hospital, Huntsville, AL. Visitation will be at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 6:00-9:00PM and services will be Friday, June 21, 2019 at 2:00PM with Dr. Charles Edward Fossett officiating. Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery beside our daddy.
Marcus was born June 27, 1960 in Athens, AL, grew up in the Carriger community and settled in the Cross-Key community. He was a graduate of West Limestone High School and Athens State University. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a sports fanatic, especially for West Limestone and the Tide; and a master of cross-word puzzles. A simple man who lived a simple life, he was a friend to all and our rock.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Robbie Hardaway. He is survived by his brother David “Pete” Hardaway (Debbie) of Toney, sisters, Mitzie H. Parker (Hershel) and Marilyn H. Garner (Wade) of Athens; nieces, Josie H. Jenkins (Bart) of Athens, Jacqueline H. Hester (Martin) of Guntersville, Baranda S. Hermosillo (Carlos) of Athens, Teresa G. Fossett (Edward) of Section and nephew, Cameron Parker of Athens; great nieces, Emily Fossett, Grace Smith, Addison and Marlee Jenkins, last but certainly not least… Robi Hermosillo; great nephews Ethan Fossett and Ty Hester.
He was previously employed with Snap-On Tools in Elkmont, AL.
Pallbearers are Bart and Josie Jenkins, Martin and Jackie Hester, Carlos and Brandy Hermosillo, Teresa Fossett and Cameron Parker. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Stinnett, Mac Ridgeway and Archie Tennison.
