Clista Scott, age 81, of Waterloo, Alabama went to be with the Lord on June 5th at 6 a.m. at North Alabama Medical Center after an accident with resulting complications. She was surrounded by her loving immediate and extended family. Clista lived in Waterloo for 63 years of her life and had recently celebrated her 63rd wedding anniversary with her husband, Ray Scott on April 10th. She was a member of the Bumpas Creek Freewill Baptist Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed gospel music, long walks, gardening in her flower beds, reading her Bible as well as puzzles and crosswords. She said the best thing she ever did was her children and enjoyed many precious moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in end of life on earth by her eldest son, Danny Ray Scott in 1986. Her father, Emmett L. Phillips and mother, Lady Woods Phillips; brothers, Milton Phillips, Ronald Phillips and Billy Phillips as well as sisters, Lavon Burney, Mozelle sister Mitchell and Vernette Carter.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Scott; sons, David Scott and a very special daughter-in-law, Jessie, and Gary Scott; daughter, Deborah “Cricket” Hanback; grandchildren, Dustin and Derek Woods, Madalyn, Caleb, Carson, Carleigh, Cambrie and Colsen Scott; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Jesse and Destanie “Desi” Woods. Mrs. Scott is also survived by her sister, Mable Johnson and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Her visitation was hosted by Morrison Funeral Home in Central Heights on June 6th from 6 until 8 p.m. The funeral services will be held at her home church, Bumpas Creek Freewill Baptist Church, on Friday, June 7th at noon. Mrs. Scott will lie in state from 10 until noon. Burial will follow immediately in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Bradley Putman, Adam Woods, Waylon Sharpston, Kenny and Chris Coleman, Dustin and Derek Woods with honorary pallbearers, Caleb and Carson Scott. Mrs. Scott will be forever missed but never forgotten. Her family would also like to give a special thank you to the members of her family who took the time to sit with her during her last days.
