Joe Arthur Gann – Obituary

Joe Arthur Gann, age 85, died on May 19, 2019 at Shearer-Richardson Nursing Home in Okolona.  He was born in Guin, AL on March 12, 1934, to Arthur Otto Gann and Birdie Mae Canon Gann.  He loved his Savior, family, friends and country.  He served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator on active duty in Korea and would spend hours recounting his experiences during the war.  He later retired from Cona Vista Chemical Corp. in Aberdeen, MS after 30 years of service.  He was a member of First Baptist Church, Okolona.

Burial with a private family graveside service will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pontocola with Bro. Randy Lewman officiating.  Holland Funeral Directors will be in charge of arrangements.

He was a Master Mason and served as past Grand Master of R.E. Lee Lodge in Tupelo and the Masonic Lodge in Aberdeen.  He actively worked with the Shriners Hospital in Shreveport, LA., transporting children for treatment.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Gann of Tupelo; 3 daughters: Catherine Gann of Miami, FL, Lisa McCarville of Mesa, AZ and Penny Warren of Copperas Cove, TX; 3 step-children: Stanley Carter of Amory, Mike Carter (Frankie) of Paragould, AR and Patti Ward Bishop of Tupelo; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a very special buddy, Brandon Moses, who loved to visit and spend time with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha Tubbs.
