James Edward “Sonny” Poe, 67, departed this life from Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended battle with kidney cancer. Born in Nashville, TN on December 14, l951 to Glenn Poe and Jean Sanders Poe Hicks He grew up in Okolona and lived in Shannon much of his adult life. A Baptist, he worked odd jobs throughout his life. His greatest passion lwas shooting pool where he was a master pool shark. He loved his motorcycles and horseback riding.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 5 PM Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Chapel at Sanctuary Hospice House (5259 West Main, Tupelo) with Chaplain Dickie Ray officiating. Visitation is 30 minutes before the service on Monday only. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends.
Sonny leaves behind to mourn his passing 2 daughters, Lisa Gail Holcomb and Vickie Lynn Poe. 1 son, Anthony Glenn Poe; 2 sisters, Donna Guerin (Larry, deceased) and Pamela “Pam” Scott (Don): 4 grandchildren, Wade Inmon, Olivia Inmon, Kira Inmon and Brooke Osburn. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Glenda Marion and 1 nephew, David Marion.
