William Hall “Billy” Mitchell, Age 75, of Tuscaloosa, AL (Born in Hamilton, AL) (November 21, 1943 – May 3, 2019)

“Billy” Mitchell, age 75, was born in Hamilton, Alabama on November 21, 1943, to the late Herbert Hall Mitchell and Audrey Taylor Mitchell.  After finishing high school in Virginia in 1961, he graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1965 with a B.S. degree in business administration and in 1983 he received a Masters of Tax Accountancy from the University of Alabama.

For many years, Billy was the principal owner of The Mitchell Company, a Tuscaloosa firm engaged primarily in providing business services and tax planning for small businesses. He mentored many business owners during his long career.

He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. He was an Eagle Scout and served in the United States Army Reserve. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and of the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity. He also was a member of the Jamestowne Society, the Order of Descendants of Ancient Planters, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Order of the Southern Cross and the Military Order of the Stars and Bars.

Billy was an avid golfer; he loved quail hunting, sport shooting, and bird dogs. He also loved to entertain and was always the consummate host. Billy was the eternal optimist – never failing to see the potential in every business enterprise and the goodness in every person he met.  True to the Boy Scout’s oath, he was friendly, courteous and kind.

The family suggests memorials be made to Christ Episcopal Church or to a favorite charity.
