Bettie Sue Tidwell WilkersonThe funeral service for Bettie Sue Tidwell Wilkerson, age 86 of Wadley, will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Union Baptist Church (Motley) with Rev. Noel Vickers, Rev. John Roberts, and Rev. Tim Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Wilkerson passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Clay County Nursing Home in Ashland. She spent most of her life in Clay County, where she honorably served as a sitter and caregiver for many friends and family members, which she loved to do. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, working in her flower beds and going for a ride.

Mrs. Wilkerson is survived by three children: Ronnie Wilkerson of Wadley, Anita Waldrep (Tim) of New Site, and Paul Wilkerson of Wadley; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Max Tidwell (Joann) of Huntsville; one sister, Verna Harris of Alex City; and four nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry Morgan and Lurena Bolt Tidwell; and an infant brother and infant sister.

Kris Morris, Jacob Lovelace, Jimmy Sprayberry, T.J. Mulkey, Jason Wilkerson, William Wilkerson, Paul Wilkerson, and Glenn Elkins will serve as active pallbearers. Melinda Grant, Amanda Tapia, Kimberly Mulkey, Tammy Sprayberry, Brandi Morris, and Amber Lovelace will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Her family sends a special thank you to the Clay County Nursing Home and Hospice of Clay County for their tender and compassionate care.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Mrs. Wilkerson will lie in state from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
