Kermit E. Minga, age 89, of Amory, MS in the Splunge Community, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11:00a.m. from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Lann Cemetery. Bro. Jason Clifton and Reverend James Rutledge to officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m.

Kermit was born January 8, 1930 in Greenwood Springs, Mississippi to the late James Ellis Minga and the late Maggie Cora Odom. He was a graduate of Greenwood Springs High School in Greenwood Springs, Mississippi. Mr. Minga was a member of the Detroit United Methodist Church. He worked for WERH Radio Station, where he retired after 36 years. He served in the United States Army, but later received an honorable discharge due to hardship. He returned home to care for his mother and the family farm. Kermit served on the Board of Directors at the First State Bank in Sulligent for several years. Kermit was well known for his practical jokes. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and was an avid gardener.
