Jerry Miller Box, age 83, passed away April 29, 2019. He was raised in Cordova with his best friend Lanier Johnson. Currently he resided in Dora. Jerry was a cook and performed gun maintenance in the Army National Guard from which he retired after 23 years. He worked at Birmingham Bolt, T.S. Boyd School, and The Daily Mountain Eagle. Jerry enjoyed watching Billy Graham and would put off any task in an effort to pay full attention to each episode.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Box Hough.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cilta Faye Box; children, Sonya Glover (Glenn), Michael Box (Alesia), David Box (Jolene); brother, Robert Earl Hough (Debra); grandchildren, Matthew Box, Regan Reno (Dusty), Larken Box and Harris Box; great-grandchild, Rosalei Reno as well as a host of extended family, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home Thursday May 2, 2019. Visitation from 12:00-2:00 pm. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm followed by burial in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Pastor Lewis Smith and Bro Jody Harris will officiate.
