Mrs. Carmen Teresa Smith, age 92 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Fayette Medical Center-DCH.
Mrs. Smith was born June 28, 1926, in New York, NY, to the late Benito and Pauline Gomez. She was a nurse at the hospital in Vernon for a number of years and was married to the late Homer Smith. Mrs. Smith enjoyed working at the hospital and being with her family and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 11:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Bro. Terry McAdams officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon City Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday morning 10:00-11:00 prior to the service.
Survivors include two sons, Homer C. (Sharon) Smith, Jr. of Peoria, AZ and Henry (Pat) Smith of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Joyce (Don) Bell of Fayette, AL and Dorothy “Dot” (John) Andrews of Columbus, MS; seven grandchildren, Teresa Ashby, Amber Muller, Jennifer McPherson, Jamie Williams, Kimberly Walcker, Danika Barrett, and Daphne Sprayberry; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
