James “Jim” William Clark, Sr., 93, born July 31, 1925, went to be with the Lord Monday, April 22, surrounded by loved ones. He was born and raised in Decatur, Alabama. He served in WWII, in the Army Air Corp. After the war he graduated from Georgia Tech University as an electrical engineer. He met and married his wife, Mary Beth Brown, in 1948. They moved to Langley, Virginia and he worked as a federal employee. They moved to Huntsville in 1951 where he began a long and fulfilling career with NASA in the Mission Operations Integration Division. He retired in 1998 after 47 years of service.
He and his wife were involved in Christian ministry throughout their married life. They were instrumental in bringing Child Evangelism Fellowship to the Huntsville area in the late 1960s. They had a passion to evangelize boys and girls with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish them in the Word of God. Jim was an active member of Southwood Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Beth, in 2001 and his son, Bob, and daughter, Carol, in 1984. Jim is survived by his sons, James W. “Bill” Clark, Jr. and his wife, Diane, and Stephen “Steve” Douglas Clark, and his wife, Karen; his grandchildren, James W. “Will” Clark, III and his wife, Laura, Patrick Benjamin “Ben” Clark, and his wife, Lisa, Brianna Christian (Jarred), MaryBeth Nix (Zach), Lindsey, and Elainey; great-grandchildren, James William Clark, IV, Naomi Clark, Silas Clark, Bentley Christian, Lexi Christian, Aly Clark, and yet to be born, Lucas Zachary Nix.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25 with Rev. Derrick Harris officiating. Visitation begins at 1:30 followed by the service at 2:30. Burial will be at Faith Memorial Cemetery, 8100 Madison Boulevard, Madison, AL.
Pallbearers are Will Clark, William Clark, Ben Clark, Sam Banks, Zach Nix, and Billy Buck.
