Gary Wade Layton
AUGUST 25, 1952 – APRIL 21, 2019
Gary Wade Layton, 66, of Decatur, AL, passed peacefully in his home on April 21, 2019. Visitation will be Friday, April 26, 2019, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home with his dear friend Victor McGowan officiating. Gary was born in Decatur, AL to Talmadge Wade Layton and Martha Louise Anderson Layton, on August 25, 1952. He graduated from Austin High School. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Talmadge and Martha Layton, and one sister, Belinda Thurman. Gary is survived by his daughter Katie Layton Dunnivant (William), two sisters, Marsha Beshears and Tammy May (Paul), and one brother, Audie Layton (Sharon), and many nieces and nephews. Gary loved life and was a perpetual jokester. He enjoyed watching all University of Alabama sports, especially Football, and anything that made him laugh made him happy. He loved music, especially the Beatles, and collecting guitars and memorabilia. Gary loved helping others, and the time he was able to spend caring for his parents in their final years was a blessing to him and to them. More than anything he loved his daughter Katie.
