He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Geraldine Blackmon; parents, Hershel and Clarence Blackmon; sisters, Kathleen McMichens and Joan Uptain as well as his grandson, Matthew Dill.
Homer is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Michael Wayne) Earley of McCalla, AL; son Tim (Janet) Blackmon of Hayden, AL; grandchildren, Heather Blackmon, Heath Blackmon both of Hayden, AL, Roby Roberson of Bessemer, AL, John Roberson of McCalla, AL; and Holli Dill of McCalla, AL; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Dill, Kimberly Roberson, R.J. Roberson, Kamryn Roberson, Anthony Roberson, and Karli Roberson; sisters, Mary Daniel and Sissy (Terry) Allcorn; brother, Donald (Helen) Blackmon; numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
He was a member for more than 60 years of the Brooklin Lodge No. 704 F & A M, a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and a member of UMWA
District 20 for 66 years.
Services will be held at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation, Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral Service Friday, April 12, 2019 at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery.
