Funeral service for John Brock Austin, Jr., age 85, of Trinity, will be Monday, April 8, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Austinville Church of Christ with Tony Edwards officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Austin, who died Friday, April 5, 2019, at his residence, was born November 29, 1933, in Decatur, to John Brock Austin, Sr. and Olean Sparkman Austin. He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Fitzgerald Austin, one daughter, Kathy Jean Austin Warren, his parents, and one granddaughter, Stephanie Burcham.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Jean Poole Austin of Trinity; one son, John T. Austin (Cheryl) of Decatur; three daughters, Angelia A. Kirkham (Lee) of Priceville, Vickie R. Austin of Trinity, and Melonea Chavez (Ramon) of Decatur; nine grandchildren, Jeanna Balistreri (Tom) of Evergreen, CO, James Kenneth Harton of Decatur, Joseph Harton of St. Louis, MO, Jerrod Warren of Huntsville, Andrea McLemore (Chad) of Priceville, Brittany Bennett (Chris) of Priceville, Kathryn Kirkham (Damien) of Mobile, Ashley Phillips of Muscle Shoals, and Laura Knowles (Roger) of Trinity; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley or the American Cancer Society.
