Janice Haney Watson, age 70, formerly of Fitzgerald, GA went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at home in Haleyville, Alabama.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville, Alabama. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with David Biggers and Steve Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Posey Mill Cemetery.
Janice was born in Winston County, Alabama to the late Dewey & Tressie Posey Haney. She was a 1967 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Over the years, she worked for Roanoke School, Irwin Manufacturing Co., Liberty National, Fitzgerald City School Superintendent and General Telephone/Alltel, retiring in 2004. She and her husband moved to Haleyville, Alabama in 2007. She was a member of Posey Mill Baptist Church.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid seamstress and quilter and was interested in family genealogy. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Russell Watson; daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Shane Howell of Irwin County, Georgia; two granddaughters Chasidy Howell Potts (James) and Lacy Howell; brothers, Ansel Haney (Shirley) and Wayne Haney (Sue); one sister, Fonda Henderson; half-brothers, Donnie, Deryl & Dexter; aunts, Geneva Jordan (Wilbur) and Joan Posey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special sister, Gail Fountain; infant brother Jessie Haney; half brothers, Drexel Haney and Doug Haney.
