Charlie Albert Ferry, Jr. was born February 7, 1932, in Walls, Mississippi and raised in Vidalia, LA. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a decorated Korean War veteran. He graduated from the University of Maryland. He retired from the U.S. Army Missile command with 38 years of government service and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and his hobbies. He was a born again believer and a member of University Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Beatrice Ferry of Vidalia, LA, sister Sarah Kimball and brother Lawrence Ferry. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Ferry of Owens Cross Roads, AL, children, Marianne Huie (Doug) of Meridianville, AL; Janet Hawkins (David) of Hueytown, AL; Louanne Kon (Scott) of Cleveland, AL; Melissa Keel (Doug) of Owens Cross Roads, AL; William (Bill) Ferry of Cleveland, AL; Charlie (Chuck) Ferry III (Anna) of Boulder, CO; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Surviving sisters and brothers include Marianne Dunn, Beatrice Barnes, Lillian McCurdy, Sue Lowrey, Sam Ferry, David Ferry, Michael Ferry; mother-in-law Dorothy Smith, brother-in-law Steve (Kathy) Smith, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Berryhill Funeral Home on Monday, April 1, 2019 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm with the funeral following at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.

He was a willing volunteer and advocate for the homeless. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food Bank of North Alabama.
