F 3.19.19 James Mullins.jpegJames Keith Mullins “Jim,” age 79, passed into the loving arms of Jesus surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 14, 2019, in Florence, Alabama.

Jim was born on August 15, 1939, in Robinson, Illinois to Edmund and Mabel Quick Mullins. He enlisted in the Air Force out of high school in 1957 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1980. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Smith “Betsy” on July 19, 1958. After Betsy’s passing, Jim found love again and married Sally Harris “Suzy” on June 13, 2009. Jim was an active member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Robinson, Illinois, and First United Methodist Church in Sheffield, Alabama. While attending First United Methodist Church he enjoyed participating in the Christian Fellowship Class, “Good Ol’ Boys” and Meals on Wheels. His most recent project was the creation of “The Mullins Express,” a children’s train that has been featured in many parades and festivals throughout the Shoals area of north Alabama.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Suzy Mullins; son, Kimo (Cindy) Mullins, Ft. Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Suzette Russell, Dallas, Texas; stepdaughter, Jennifer Mussard, Sheffield; stepson, Michael Mussard, Sheffield; sisters, Betty Umbarger, Hammond, Indiana, Linda (Ray) Newbold, Ruston, Louisiana, Joyce Mauer, St. Elmo, Illinois; brother-in-law, Medford (Claudette) Smith, Laughlin, Nevada; sister-in-law, Phyllis Neeley, Oblong, Illinois; grandchildren, Benjamin Mullins, Ross Vardaman, Elvis Russell, Jesse Russell, Koby Russell, William Massey, David Mussard and Morgan (Jacob) Murray; great-grandchild, Gemma Lee Murray; along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding Jim in death are his parents; first wife, “Betsy”; brother, Richard Mullins and daughter-in-law, Jodi Mullins.

Jim Mullins will be returned home and laid to rest alongside his late wife, Betsy. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral to follow at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, Illinois. A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held in Sheffield, Alabama at a later date.

Donations in memory of Jim would be welcomed by the Christian Fellowship Class (First United Methodist Church, 701 N Montgomery Avenue, Sheffield, AL 35660).
