The funeral service for Vivian H. Gautney, age 82 of Cragford, will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 11:00 am at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Reverend Zenus Windsor officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Gautney passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. A native and lifelong resident of Clay County, she graduated from Clay County High School in 1955. Mrs. Gautney had worked for Russell Manufacturing and Southland Manufacturing. She loved to cook and spend time with her great-grandsons and family, talk on the phone with family and friends and take care of her yard and garden.
Mrs. Gautney is survived by her son, Dennis Gautney (Debbie) of Cragford; granddaughter, Tara Emigh (Eric) of Ashland; two great grandsons: Jake Emigh and Chase Emigh; two sisters: Shirley Pittard of Lineville and Sarah Adamson (Curtis) of Ashland; sister in law, Mattie Kennedy of Cragford; brother, Joe Hallman(Margaret) of Ashland and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas A. and Bertha D. Hallman; her husband, James Paul Gautney; one son, Danny Gautney; one brother, Travis A. Hallman and two infant sisters.
Gene Lowry, Jason Hallman, Julian Gortney, Tim McCain, John Harkness and John David Harkness will serve as pallbearers.
