Clarence Janzen – Obituary

Clarence Janzen, 97, of Huntsville, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019. Clarence was born in Colony, Oklahoma and graduated from Enid High School, Enid, Oklahoma. A veteran of WWII, he served in France with the 44th Division Infantry, earning the rank of Sergeant, and receiving three Bronze Service Stars, the Purple Heart, Distinguished Unit Badge and Good Conduct Medal. Clarence was married for 74 years to the love of his life, Kathalene Brooks Janzen, who preceded him in death. He was a business owner in Clinton, OK and a real estate broker and contractor in Bentonville, AR.

Following retirement he was an active volunteer with TARCOG, NE Alabama’s Agency on Aging. In 2009, he and Kathalene visited The White House where he received the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

Survivors include his children, Larry Janzen (Wylene) of Madison, and Cassie Janzen Hall of Indianapolis; grandchildren. Stormie Janzen, Wendell Janzen (Jennifer), Cristi Hall and Kelyssa Hall; and two great-grandchildren, Allie Janzen and Lucy Negron Hall.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, February 28, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Koscheski officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Family Care of Huntsville, 10000 Serenity Lane, Huntsville 35803 (hospicefamilycare.org).
