Harry Conrad Meyer, III – Obituary

Dr. Harry Conrad Meyer, III, was born April 5, 1934 in New Orleans, LA and passed peacefully on February 22, 2019 at the age of 84 in Huntsville, AL.

Harry is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Elizabeth, Conrad and David; grandchildren, Allison, Ryan, Delaney, Collin, Hannah, Cameron and Connor; great-grandchild, Jenna; sister, Helen Cass; brother, Mederic “Dickie” Meyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Marie Meyer and Harry Conrad Meyer, Jr. and his sister, Sylvia King.

He graduated from Jesuit High School in New Orleans and attended Jesuit Seminary in Grand Coteau, LA for six months. Harry went on to graduate Suma Cum Laude from Loyola University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and graduated with Masters and Doctorate of Physics from Vanderbilt University. He was a civil servant with the US Army on Redstone Arsenal for 25 years.

Harry’s favorite hobbies included fishing, reading, and fine dining. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 27th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 13550 Chaney Thompson Rd. in Huntsville, followed by funeral mass at 11:00 with Father Phil O’Kennedy officiating.
