Barry Wayne Ditzler – Obituary

Memorial service for Barry Wayne Ditzler, age 55, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, February 6, 2019, 7:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Benny Sivley officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service.

Mr. Ditzler, who died Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Huntsville Hospital, was born September 4, 1963, in Lewisburg, PA, to Barry Lee Ditzler and Samantha Marian Thornberg Ditzler. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Mr. Ditzler was Director for Specialty Services, Welding Division at Aptim. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1981 – 1989, where he learned the welding trade. He was an avid Penn State football fan, coached many high school sports, and was active in paintball for many years. Barry was devoted to all those he loved, and made friends wherever he went. He was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. His boundless energy kept him moving and always doing something, traveling, or working around the house. He loved the outdoors, hunting, guns, and his country. Barry loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to attend baseball games, football games, and to travel.

He is survived by his fiancé, Martylee Haggart of Decatur; one son, Joshua Ditzler (Becca) of Colorado; two daughters, Bethany Payne (Brandon) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Brittany Hinshaw (Cody) of Decatur; Martylee’s daughters, Alexandria and Gabriella; his father, Barry L. Ditzler of Decatur; one sister, Tracy Ditzler; seven grandchildren, Skylar, Hayden, Brantley, Braelyn, Tatum, Tripp, and Kingston; and one niece, Mindy Ditzler.
