The visitation and gathering of friends and family for Willie Earl Weldon, age 83 of Ashland, will be on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
Mr. Weldon passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. Born and raised in Shelby County but had lived in Clay County for the past 44 years, He had worked for Dixie Craft/Madix for several years as a supervisor before becoming disabled. He was a member of Faith Christian Fellowship.
Mr. Weldon is survived by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn L. Weldon of Ashland; two sons: Mike Love of Ashland and Johnny Love (Kathy) of Alexander City; three daughters: Yvonne Love of Ashland, Dawn Hallman (Doug) of Ashland, and Darlene W. Wilkinson of Lineville; one brother, Donald R. Weldon of Florida; one sister, Lucille Brewer of Tennessee; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. Weldon and Annie Bell Thompson Weldon, one son, Phillip W.Love, and numerous brothers and sisters.
In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clay County Rescue Squad.
