Graveside service for Roy Leon Parks ,age 88, of Hartselle will be Monday, January 28, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery in the Walnut Grove Community of Etowah County, with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Parks, who was born March 4, 1930, in Etowah County to J. H. Parks and Arkie Lindsey Parks Campbell, died on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at his home.
He attended the Hartselle Assembly of God Church, was retired from Republic Steel in Gadsden, and a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Parks; and three brothers, Jimmy Parker, Billy Parks and Eddie Wayne Campbell.
Mr. Parks loved his family, especially his Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. He had a love for sports and NASCAR racing.
He is survived by two daughters Debbie Preuitt (Eddie) of Hartselle, and Brenda Pigg (Dickie) of Pensacola; one sister Jeanette Johnson of Altoona; two grandchildren, Jason Preuitt (T.J.) and Trent Preuitt (Nicky); and five great-grandchildren Larissa, Jace, Mya, Nash and Gage.
