The funeral service for Glynis Gail Mitchell, age 62 of Ashland, will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. Billy Todd officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston. A Sneads, Florida native, she was a former resident of South Carolina and settled in Clay County in 1982. Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Southern Union State Community College with an Associate degree in Health Care Science. She worked as a home health aide but had also worked for Russell Manufacturing and served as a census taker. Mrs. Mitchell loved being outside and working in her yard. She was a member of Shady Grove Christian Church.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by one daughter, Angel M. Vowell (Jason) of Wedowee; one son, James R. Mitchell of Ashland; her mother, Myrle L. Neel of Lineville; one step-son, James W. Mitchell of South Carolina; two sisters: Susan Barrett of Lineville and Leslie Glasgow (Tommy) of Heflin; one brother, Carlton Neel (Sandy) of Talladega and five grandchildren: Tyler Lacey, Sonya, Amber and Mason Vowell and Laura Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Neel and her husband, Tony K. Mitchell.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 5:30 P.M. until 8 P.M.
