A dear ole soul and dirt road sport, Brenda Kay Christian, 63, after a courageous battle with cancer crossed the chilling waters of Jordan on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 at her residence in Shannon. Brenda was born on Dec. 31, 1955 in Aberdeen to Gordon G. Baldwin and Jean Lou House Winders. She graduated from Hamilton High School and attended Itawamba Junior College. Possessed with strong management skills and business sense, Brenda’s earliest work career included managerial responsibilities at Heilig-Myers Furniture Stores in Tupelo, New Albany and Booneville. After her marriage to Dalton Christian in l993, she became a partner in his auction business, Christian Auction Company, and they conducted auctions al across the mid -South. Brenda enjoyed a good time, had many friends whom she loved and cherished and was always the life of the party. She was a die hard Alabama Crimson Tide fan “Roll Tide” and a lover of all God’s creation and creatures, especially cats. She enjoyed fishing and all water sports, riding 4 wheelers and being the independent, jovial personality and practical jokester she always was. She was a member of Faith Outreach Church in Okolona. She completely adored her children and grandchildren.
A service honoring her life and times will be held at 2 PM Today (Sunday 1/20/19) at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with her pastor, Bro. Jimmy Bryan officiating. Private burial will follow in Shannon Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon-service time today.
Brenda leaves to cherish her memory her family; husband, Dalton Christian. Her mother, Jean Winders of Okolona; daughter Angel Maxey (Patrick) of Pontotoc; sons, Scott Christian (Tara) of Belden and Jeff Christian of Tupelo. A brother, Johnny Baldwin (Wanda) of the Nettleton area. Her grandchildren, Nicole Butler (Jesse), Ashton Waldrop, Madison Christian, Meghan Christian, Josh Christian, J. D. Christian and Stella Christian. Her great grandchildren, Aubrey Butler, Stella Raye Butler, Gemma-Claire Butler and Ruby Kate Butler. Her honorary grands, Conner and Alex Waldo. Special friends, Rickey and Sandie Scott of Tupelo. She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Baldwin, her sister, Kathy, her sister, Glenda and her brother, Cliff, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Brian Sullivan, Stevie Shackelford, Tommy Tacker, Tommy Moore, Devan Hanna, Tommy Christian, Joh n Andrew Gregory, Clay Knight and Ricky Blizzard. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Gregory, Joe Kilgo, Earnest Webb and Darrell Clock.
