Ruth Helen Smith, 80, passed away January 18, 2019 at Signature Healthcare Whitesburg Gardens, Huntsville Alabama.
She was the daughter of the late Thelma and Walter Smith of Bethlehem Pennsylvania.
Born and raised in Allentown Pennsylvania she was a graduate of Hunter College in New York, receiving her Lieutenant status in the Salvation Army. She was a graduate of the University of Connecticut receiving her PhD in Psychology. She relocated to Huntsville, Alabama where she served the community as the Police Department Chaplin and counseling those in need.
Ruth is survived by a brother Robert W. Smith of Kensington Connecticut and a devoted dear friend Missy Morvant of Huntsville Alabama.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to thank the staff at Signature Healthcare Whitesburg Gardens for the care and compassion shown to Ruth and her family during this difficult time.
