Alberta “Berta” Jordan Hargett – Obituary

Alberta “Berta” Jordan Hargett died on Saturday, January 12th. A native of Huntsville, Berta was a graduate of Huntsville High School, class of 1962. She graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University in mathematics, and later earned a Master’s degree in accounting from UAH. Berta was a CPA and worked for the accounting firm Melvin & Putman and Associates for over 30 years. She was an avid reader, loved science fiction, and enjoyed playing bridge with her very special friends. She was involved in the Mission Guild at the Church of Nativity, the Junior League, and the Grace Club Auxiliary.

Berta was preceded in death by her daughter, Katherine Hargett Boyer, and her parents, Dr. James L. Jordan and Mary Katherine Jordan. She is survived by her three sisters, Katherine “Kakki” Brooks (J.R), Mary Lee Sullivan, and Louise Reynolds (John); son-in-law, Paul Boyer; and many nieces and nephews, Taylor Brooks (Amy), Katie Nolan, Mary Beth Wilson (Ward), Frank Tait (Aimee), Brendan Sullivan, Emily Reynolds, Jimmy Daniel, and Clifton Daniel (Meredith).

Her family is grateful for her many caregivers and especially thank Norma Branin and Pat Edwards.

Visitation will be at 1:00 on Wednesday, January 16th at the Church of the Nativity and the service will follow at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Nativity Altar Guild, 208 Eustis Ave, Huntsville, Al, 35801.
