F.1.13.19 Donald Pounders.jpgDonald Maurice Pounders who was born on June 28, 1933 in Florence, Alabama, died January 11, 2019, at the home he built in 1959, while resting peacefully and watching the creek flow towards the Tennessee River that he loved.

For 63 of his 85 years he was married to Hautie Mae, who thought he hung the moon. Together they raised two sons, Danny and Andy, on the banks of Shoals Creek. During those years he worked for Florence Electricity Department and spent his leisure time hunting, wood working, fishing, camping and following blue grass music festivals in his beloved motor home. Early in his marriage, he served his country during the Korean War.

His father was Riley (Daddy Jack) and mother was Irene Pounders. Brothers were Buford Jackson, Charles, Harold and Conrad Pounders.

To carry the family name are his sons, Danny (Beth Anne), and Andy (friend Angie); and his pride and joy grand-daughter Rachel.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-3 p.m. January 14, 2019 at Greenview Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chris Moran and Bill Bagents conducting. A private burial service will follow later.

Special thanks to the friends of Don and Hautie for the visits and prayers. Brenda Cole has been his faithful caregiver for over three years and the family is very grateful for her service.
