Sandra ‘Sandy’ Neher Hardt – Obituary

Sandra ‘Sandy’ Neher Hardt, 81, of Huntsville, passed away Monday. Sandy was born in Decatur, AL to Sidney Anton and Ruth Winton Neher.  She graduated from Decatur High School, attended the University of Alabama and the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Hugo A. Hardt.  Sandra and Hugo made Huntsville their home in 1980, with Sandra working at Intergraph for 11 years and enjoying many kinds of volunteer activities after she retired.  Sandra was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed many years participating in the du Midi Woman’s Club, the Golden Brier Woman’s Club, the Joy Circle of TUMC, and the Huntsville Museum of Art.  Sandra always considered the special roles of wife, mother, and grandmother, the most precious gifts in her life.

Survivors include daughters, Elizabeth Simmons (Rex) and Allison Hardt, all of Huntsville; grandchildren, Sidney Simmons (Jill), Catherine Jacboson (Ben) and Lindsey Hardt; great-grandchildren, Rawson and Ellie Jacobson; and sister-in-law, Mary Lee Hardt of Huntsville and Martie Kelley of Lewisburg, PA.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, January 8 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the memorial service immediately following in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Trinity United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
