Gail Timmons, 67 of Cherokee, died Friday, December 28, 2018. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee. Funeral services will be Monday, December 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Barton First Baptist Church with Bro. Micah Booth, Bro. Frank Whitaker and Bro. Gatus Cheatham officiating. She will lie-in-state at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Barton Cemetery.
Gail was a native of Itawamba County, Mississippi and longtime resident of Cherokee. She was a very faithful and active member of Barton First Baptist Church and a member of the Sylvia Alexander Sunday School Class. After she became ill and not able to get out, someone asked one day “Gail if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?” To which she replied “I’d love to go to church”.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Shirley Smith; brothers, Wayne, J.C., and Troy Lee Smith; and sister, Bobbie Hastings.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Leland Timmons; sons, Robert Timmons and Rodney Timmons (Patty), both of Tuscumbia; brother, Donald Smith (Joy), Nettleton, MS; sisters, Judy Martin (Ray), Golden, MS and Sue Nichols (Dwight), Sevierville, TN; grandchildren, Justin Timmons, Bella Timmons and Tiffany Harris (Tim); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Justin Timmons and the deacons of Barton First Baptist Church.
The family expresses special thanks to Barton First Baptist Church for all of their love, care and support they have shown to Gail and her entire family, Hospice of North Alabama, and the fourth floor staff of Helen Keller Hospital.
