Alice Jo Underwood Duke, of Muscle Shoals, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at the age of 74. Visitation will be Monday, December 24, 2018, from 10 a.m. until noon at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jim Warren and Bro. Mark Mayfield officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Alice Jo lived a life of selfless giving. She thought of others more than herself. She cherished her family – the one she was born to and the one she chose. She spent her life serving the Lord Jesus Christ and trying to lead others to know Him.
Alice Jo was a member of Leighton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alma Underwood; brothers Jerry Don Underwood and Billy Underwood; spouses, Charles Milton Kitchen and T.A. “Buck” Duke; and father and mother-in-law, Hollis and Mollie Kitchen.
Survivors include her sons, Charles Milton “Chuck” Kitchen Jr. (Mindy) and Chet Anthony Kitchen; daughters, Jo Ann Bevis (Farron) and Johanna Duke Paley; brothers, Wayne Underwood (Rita) and Edward Underwood (Carol); sister, Barbara Young; grandchildren, Jessica Peebles Mandrell (Mark), Wesley Peebles, Alex Peebles, Kristy Bevis (Ben Tanner), Kennedy Kitchen, Molly Kitchen, Hollis Kitchen and Hudson Kitchen; great-grandchildren, Dylan Blake, Briley Blake, Maci Mandrell, Addie Peebles and Oliver Peebles.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leighton Baptist Church or the ALS Foundation.
