Lana T. Jones entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 4:28 p.m. from lung complications. Lana was a true “Southern Woman”, a wife, mother, and a friend to many. She was a caring, compassionate person who never worried about herself but always put God and family first. She was a member of Cross Point Church of Christ. She was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2016, and fought this disease with courage and with everything she could. This dreaded disease came back in 2018 and again she fought, never complained, always putting her family first. Her courage never wavered. To know her is to love her.
She was born August 15, 1959 in Loretto, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jane and Stutts Thigpen. Lana was a graduate of Loretto High School and she obtained a BS and MBA from the University of North Alabama. She worked for numerous companies in the Shoals: ANCO, Cintas, North Alabama Skills Center, Times Daily, Gordon Food and APT. She loved to talk, decorate and could accomplish anything with a hot glue gun.
Visitation and funeral was Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Cross Point Church of Christ officiated by Frank Mills and Howell Bigham. Burial was in Greenview Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Keith Jones of Florence; her daughter, the joy and love of her life, Tara Jones Harper and her husband, Jordan of Florence; brother, Lane Thigpen and his wife, Lisa of Lebanon, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Gail Stevenson and her husband, Rod of Florence; brother-in-law, Glen Jones and his wife, Joyce of Florence; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers will be Phil Segraves, John Allgood, Jeff Chandler, Jeff Taylor, DeWayne Oakley, and Cade Beavers.
The family would like to thank all of her health care professionals who fought with her to the end. A special thanks to Dr. Tim Melson, Dr. Wallis Marsh, Dr. Felix Morris, Dr. Danny McFall, and the care teams of Northwest Alabama Cancer Center and the MICU of UAB Hospital.
