Sarah Elizabeth Sumner, age 91 of the Burnwell community, passed away Friday Nov. 16, 2018 at her residence. She was a member of Dora Church of God.
Funeral services will be Tuesday November 20, 2018 at 11:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Lewis Smith and Rev. Victor Massey will officiate. Burial will follow at Brasfield Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Warren Sumner; parents, Lee and Sallie Goodwin; sister, Beatrice Cagle and brothers, Robert, Richard and Charles Goodwin.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Andrews (Jerry), Sue Burton (Floyd) and Linda Gilbreath (Rollin); brother, R.E. Goodwin (Jean); grandchildren, Cynthia Payne (David), Karen Blevins (Phillip), James Suchey (Lynn), Carol Burton, David Gilbreath (Kathy) and Jay Gilbreath; great grandchildren, Lindsey Blevins, Heather Coleman, Shelbie Gilbreath, Hannah and Sarah Twilley, Kristina Stubbs and Troy Taylor (Allie); great-great grandchildren, Ellis, Sam and Gaines Coleman and Grayson Taylor; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be her great grandsons, Zachary and Andrew Payne, Kolby and Jacob Twilley, Garrett Suchey and Davis Gilbreath.
The family would like to express their love and appreciation to Comfort Care Hospice, Brittney, Shae and Shala for being such good caregivers.
