Louis Patrick “Pat” Lanza – Obituary

Louis Patrick “Pat” Lanza, 85, passed away Friday at Floyd E. “Tut” Fann State Veteran’s Home, with his special niece, Phyllis Ledford, by his side. Pat was a graduate of Huntsville High school where he played football. He served in the Army as a corporal during the Korean War, from 1953 to 1955, when he was honorably discharged for medical reasons.

He was never married. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Mary Santoro Lanza. The 13th child and baby of the family, he was also predeceased by all his siblings, including Mary Lanza Wiedman, Josie Lanza Biggs, Sarah Lanza Patton, Jeta Lanza Allen, Rosalie Lanza McAllister, Charles, Jasper, Tony, Joe, Sam, Jimmy, and Johnny Lanza. He is survived by sisters-in law, Peg Lanza and Shirley Lanza; and several nieces and nephews, along with great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

He was always a very sweet, loving and gentle man. He was loved very much. Roll Tide, Uncle Pat!

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 30 at St. Mary’s of the Visitation Catholic Church. The funeral service will follow at the church with Father Bill Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church of the Visitation Building Fund.
