Doris Jane Cody Norman passed from this earthly life surrounded by her loving family. She was born Thursday, May 05, 1949 and she entered her heavenly home on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Jane is preceded in death by husband of 40 years, Allen Wayne Norman, Sr; parents, Clifton Ray & Sallie Cora Duncan Cody; her brother, Herbert Cody; an infant sister and her son-in-law, Milton E. Maples Jr.
Jane is survived by her children, Allen Wayne Norman, Jr (Robbie), Daniel Lee Norman, Michael Lynn Norman (Jennifer), Robert Glen Norman, Tina Norman Maples, two step-daughters, Kimberly Ann Phillips and Kelly Alicia Russell (Ronald); five grandsons; Second Class Petty Officer Nicholas E. Mathis (Amanda), Allen W. Norman, III “Trae” (Morgan), Sergeant Michael Preston L. Norman (Shelby), Milton E. Maples III “Tripp” and John Allen Norman; six granddaughters, Brittany L. Mathis, Erica N. Moreno, Hannah S. Norman, Amber N. Maples, Rachael K. Parmer, and Haylee J. Maples. Eight great grandchildren, Kinley Hope Mathis, Kaylen Raine & Hadley Claire Norman, Easton Wayne & Mya Mae Moreno, Charli Ann Price, Jackson Preston Lee Norman, and River Eugene Maples; five sisters, Betty L. Lanier, Ruby M. Keel (James), Reda Joyce Slayton, Jo Ann Terry (Wayne), Martha Pruitt (Jerry); four brothers, Ray Cody (Glenda), Ervin Cody (Deborah), Marshall Cody, Roger Cody (Carol) along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jane was a lifelong resident of New Hope, Alabama. Her home was always a welcoming place where a fried hamburger and a glass of Pepsi were easily made. She enjoyed cutting her grass and anyone else’s she could, rocking and swinging on her front porch, spending time with her family and spoiling her babies. She was a dedicated employee of Samnia/SCI for more than 30 years. Jane was a devoted wife, mother, little maw-maw, sister, aunt and friend. She will deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family wants to send a special thank you to Heartlite Hospice, (Ariana, Amy, Cheynne, Liz Terri, Travis, Felina and Dr. Englert). The staff of Huntsville Hospital STICU and the Trauma Unit, Dr. Roni Najjar, HEMSI responders and North Alabama Specialty Hospital. Thank you all for the extra time and the dedicated work you gave us.

You may visit with the family on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Valhalla Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 8:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 2:00pm in Valhalla’s Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Brown Cemetery in New Hope, Alabama.
