FLORENCE-You’re not in trouble!…That is what the Florence -Lauderdale Public Library wants you to know. Over the next couple weeks, if you bring back books, an alarm may go off as you walk through our new security gates. Don’t worry! Just return your books on the cart we have set up at the Circulation Desk. You won’t have to worry about the alarm going off on you again—it’s just happening on books that were checked out before the security gates were installed.
Why the security gates?
These gates are to protect our community’s library collection. For a librarian, there is nothing worse than having someone come to get a book that our website shows is checked in, but to find out that it is actually missing. The library collection is for everyone, and these gates will allow the library staff to be better stewards of these important resources. Plus, the new system (once we get through the first few weeks of adjustment) will allow for checkouts to be faster and for our self-service stations to be easier.
