Neal David DeVaney, age 78, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Helen Keller Hospital.
Neal was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his wife, son, grandchildren, friends, church family, and neighbors and he prayed for them all. He was a member of Ligon Springs Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and Adult Sunday School teacher. He loved to study his Bible. Neal enjoyed being outside, hunting, fishing, and hiking. He was loved by all who knew him, and will be missed.
The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Andy Gasque officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Baptist Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Gladys (Gossett) DeVaney; and siblings, J. Bruce DeVaney, Louis DeVaney, Marvin DeVaney, Margaret Dalrymble, Mary Smith, and Lillie McBrayer.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years, Martha Miller DeVaney; son, John David DeVaney (wife, Jonna); grandchildren, Madelyn DeVaney, John Bradford DeVaney; sister, Ruby Fuller (husband, Rickey); and a host of nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers will Rickey Fuller, Jason Miller, Lee Miller, and Anthony Miller.
Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
