Joan Dianne Andrews Brasfield, 68, of Athens, died Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Mrs. Brasfield was born September 7, 1950, in Athens to Charles Malcolm and Joyce Allen Andrews.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Roselawn Cemetery will Mr. Bill Smith officiating.

Mrs. Brasfield graduated from Athens Bible School in 1968. She attended Calhoun Community College. She worked as an Army Civilian Servant at Redstone Arsenal for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ, worshiping at Jackson Dr. and Mt. Zion for many years. Her greatest job and accomplishment in life was as a loving wife, mother and grandmother (Joanie). She was a life-long friend to many. Her greatest joys were her family and close friends. She was a giving and thoughtful person, always putting others ahead of herself.

Mrs. Brasfield was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Charles Malcolm Andrews, her brother, Roger Larry Andrews and her aunt, Mot Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, James Richard Brasfield, and three daughters, Brandy (Brandon)Simmons, Amber (Will) Lovell and Bree (Christopher) McCarley all of Athens; mother, Joyce Andrews of Athens; brother, Tony (Camille) Andrews of Athens; sister-in-law, Rhonda Andrews of Athens; six grandchildren, Emma Lovell, Addison Simmons, William Lovell, Cooper Simmons, Maddie McCarley, and Ally James Simmons; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Simmons, Will Lovell, Christopher McCarley, Henry Cook, Randy Price, Will Daly and Clellan Romine

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Athens Bible School (507 Hoffman Street; Athens, AL 35611, 256-232-3525).
