C.S. “Jack” Roberts – Obituary

C.S. “Jack” Roberts passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, October 12, the night after attending the funeral of the love of his life, Alice Roberts.  Jack and Alice were married for 69 years. Jack was born on November 29, 1928 in the house where he took his final breath. He grew up in Huntsville, was chosen as Most Intellectual at Huntsville High School, was in the band and played the saxophone in a jazz band. He graduated from Auburn University with an Engineering degree. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was an officer in the army after college. He had a career with Thiokol Corporation moving the family to Brigham City, Utah and to St. Simon’s Island, Ga. The family moved back to Huntsville and Jack started his own chemical companies, Plant-Roberts and Elemental Corporation. Jack loved the game of golf and played until he was not able. He most loved being surrounded by his adoring children and grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. Roberts, Sr. and Frances Wilkes Roberts; his sister, Virginia Roberts, and his precious wife, Alice Westbrook Roberts.

He was survived by his children, Frances Brown (Donnie), Charlie Roberts (Lynn), Ann DeYonker (Rod), Alice Johnston (Randy) and Jack Roberts (Tricia); 13 grandchildren, Brook Brown Corbett (Derick), Katy Brown Allen (Kyle), Bo Brown, Valerie Roberts Woodall (Grant), Mary Lynn Roberts, Jimmy DeYonker (Michelle), Paul DeYonker (Mariel), Reilly DeYonker, Matthew Johnston (Johanna), Peter Johnston, Phillip Johnston, Will Roberts and Emma Roberts; and 9 great-grandchildren.

The funeral mass will be on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Huntsville Hospital’s Hospice Family Care or to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
