Jerome Daniel Young, 48, died Friday, August 31, 2018 near Myrtle in Union County as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Jerome loved the outdoors and spent much time there. He was a frequent fisherman and hunter and often walked the creeks beds of Northeast Mississippi looking for Native American Indian artifacts esp. arrowheads which he loved to collect. He greatly enjoyed music especially the 80’s music and country music. Music seemed to sooth his soul. A carpenter, builder and remodeler all his life, he was self- employed much of his life but worked for Young’s Construction, the family business. Jerome attended Nettleton Schools and Tupelo Church of God. He will be sorely missed.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Judd Vowell officiating. Private burial will follow in Boguefala Cemetery in Mooreville. Visitation will be from Noon-service time Thursday only at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their family.
Survivors include his parents: Sarah Buckner Young-Estes of Mooreville and Jim Young (Carolyn) of Tupelo; his daughters, Aaliyah Young and her mother , Jennifer Young of Mooreville. Megan Parsons (Justin) of Iuka and Joseph Whitlock of Tupelo. his sisters, Janie Pate (Braxton) of Mooreville and Jenny Causey of Nettleton. two grandchildren, Vivian Rose and Vera Kate Parsons. Nieces and nephews, Jimmy Young , III (Betsy) of Mooreville, Chasity Hampton (Eric) of Tupelo, Steven Finn (Kelsey) of Nettleton, Sharah Finn (Lexie) of Amory, Watson Pate, Mary Frances Pate, William Grady Pate and Jay D Kace Young, Elaney Young, and Ava Claire Young.Two great nephews, Knox Alan Young and Remmington Finn.
Pallbearers will be Steven Finn, Mike Hood, Marty Kennedy, Dewayne Culver, Dewayne Pierce and Mike Hendrix.
