Seth Edzel Brown – Obituary

Seth Edzel Brown long time resident of Mount Pleasant, passed away this Friday morning at Maury Regional Hospital. He was the son of late Seth R. and Annie Pollock Brown of Mount Pleasant.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Gertrude Hoffman Brown, two brothers Roy C. Brown of Mount Pleasant and Alvin (Nadine) Brown of Lawrenceburg and sisters: Hazel Brown of Mount Pleasant, Katherine (Milton) Baker of Columbia and Annie Laura Arkie of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife Ruby Reed Vandiver Brown, Daughter Sarah (Chuck) Daunhauer of Evansville, IN Sons: Seth of Antioch, Michael (Mark Ullrich) of Hebron, KY and Charles of Madison, Stepson, Phillip (Debbie) Vandiver of Lynnville, Stepdaughters: Karen Pierce, Nicky and Lizzy Vandiver of Mount Pleasant and six grand children two great grand sons, nieces and nephews and step grandchildren.

He was a Korean War Veteran, Retired Commander of the Medical Service Corps of the United States Navy. He was for a time head of the Tennessee National Guard, former City Commissioner of Mount Pleasant and active supporter of the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant. During the height of his Navel Career he served at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in Washington DC and Bethesda Navel Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Mount Pleasant. He enjoyed operating Ham Radios, fixing things in his workshop and helping family and friends with many projects. He especially enjoyed working on his farm and seeing his grandsons.

A Memorial Service will be at The Arbors in Polk Memorial Gardens, Saturday, September 8th at noon. He was Interred at Polk Memorial Gardens September 1, 2018.
