Gary Dumer, 79, of Union Grove, passed away at his home Wednesday after a courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated from Harding High School in 1956. He attended the University of Minnesota and studied electrical engineering. He retired from Trans Tron Limited in 2003. Mr. Dumer was a veteran of the US Army, and served in the Army National Guard.
Gary loved hunting, golfing and was an avid wildlife photographer. He loved watching his grandchildren’s activities and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Florence Dumer, and brother, Robert Heinrich. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Therese (Terry) Dumer; his children, Laurie Boyer (Bob) of Oakdale, MN and James Dumer (Angie) of Landfall, MN; his step children, Wayne Kemper (Jane) of Cottage Grove, MN and Tina Bradley (Ryan) of Indian Springs, AL; ten grandchildren, Angelique Workman (Patrick), Ryan Boyer (Lauren), Lewis Dumer (Catherine), Vincent Dumer and Jessica Dumer, Kasen and Kendall Kemper, Fields and Kemper Hopkins and Isla Bradley; five great- grandchildren, Adeline and Oliver Workman, Gavin, Owen and Cecelia Dumer; his brothers, Richard Dumer (Cindy), Donald Dumer (Joyce); his sisters, Diane Pelletier and Beverly Lau (Jim); and sister-in-law, Diane Heinrich.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 3 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Huntsville, Alabama. A memorial mass will follow at the church with Father Jonathan Howell officiating. Burial will be in October at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota
