Wilton Leroy Whigham, of Huntsville, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018. Mr. Whigham was born September 9, 1934 in Enterprise, AL to Lester Leroy Whigham and Lessie Traywick Whigham. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church serving in many leadership positions over his 60 plus years of membership. After retiring from the Army Missile Command, Civil Service, he enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, Central America, and Israel with his wife and friends. The majority of their travels involved missions, including construction, disaster relief, charitable support work, and evangelism. Most recently they served for more than 20 years with Alabama Campers on Mission building and renovating churches, campuses, camps, and housing. He served as project coordinator for more than 100 different projects, served two years as president, and was awarded, along with Kathy, the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2015 Campers on Mission national rally at Asheville, NC.
Survivors include wife, Kathryn Bolding Whigham; sister, Jean Andrews; sons, Philip Leroy Whigham and John Bradley Whigham; daughter, Laura Susanne Woodell (Derrick); and grandsons, Gage Huffman and Levi Whigham.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 1 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow in the chapel with Pastor Charles Lee officiating.
