Regina Kay Hargrove, 48, gained her wings on August 21, 2018. She was born in Athens on December 10, 1969 to Tommy Joe and Carolyn White Hargrove.

Regina was a graduate of East Limestone High School and a nursery/preschool teacher until her spastic paraplegia advanced to the point that she was forced to leave “her babies.” The memory of her sweet smile and loving demeanor amidst her many physical struggles have left an indelible mark on our hearts that time cannot erase. She was a country music and gospel music (especially old gospel hymns) fan and could tell you almost anything you wanted to know about her favorite performers in both genres. She loved family above all else, if you were family you were bound to her heart through a bond of love and loyalty. She was amazing at remembering birthdays, even extended family, simply because she cherished each one and found them all special.

Regina was preceded in death by her father Tommy Joe Hargrove; grandparents William Arthur and Edna Lee White, Albert Hughes and Edith Blakely Hargrove; two beloved cousins, Andrew White and Hugh “Roscoe” Hargrove; several uncles and two aunts.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home with Richard “Dickie” White, Ronnie Lee White and Grant White officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1 p.m. until time for the service. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Hargrove, Ross Hargrove, Ronnie Ray White, Johnny Armstrong, Barry Hagood and Michael Norton. Cousins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

If you wish to honor Regina with a memorial, in lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation, 1605 Goularte Place, Fremont, CA 94539-7241. The foundation request that you please notate that it is in memory of Regina K. Hargrove. You can learn more about this organization or donate online at www.sp-foundation.org.
