Guynell Ray Sanders passed away on August 18, 2018 at her home after a long illness. She survived her husband, G.H. Sanders. She is the daughter of PJ and Reecie Ray of Hackleburg. Preceding her in death were her siblings, Lois Hughes, Mildred Hire Flemming, Ruth McCall, Carl J Ray, Fermon “Shorty” Ray, Emmitt Ray, Owen Ray, Pete Ray, Jimmy Ray and Paul Ray. Her surviving siblings are Ann Vickery of Double Springs, Max Ray of Hackleburg and Wayne Ray of Russellville. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sanders worked as the credit manager for Edwards Chevrolet for many years and lived in Forrest Park for over 50 years. She was an active member of the community and Crestway Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at Cedar Tree Cemetery in Hackleburg.
In lieu of flowers, the Ray Family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 525 Walker Street, Hackleburg, AL 35564.
The Ray Family would like to thank Mrs. Shannon Jones for all of the nursing care that she gave to Mrs.Sanders for the last three years and her friend Mrs. Barbara Adams for her faithful visits with her puppy Christy, during Guynell’s illness.
