Into this world Robert Albert Whitfield was born Wednesday, June 11, 1942 to the late Roosevelt Whitfield Sr. and the late Celesteen Albertha Finch Whitfield McWilliams in Conway, TN. Robert departed this world on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, TN. Robert was a faithful believer in God. He retired from Maremont Gabriel after 36 long years. He truly enjoyed his job and was a faithful hard worker. His greatest hobbies were hunting, fishing, playing cards, and gardening. He was a devoted and caring brother, father, paw paw, great-grandfather, uncle, friend, and neighbor.
He was preceded in death by his long time companion, Daisy Mae Grigsby, his parents and two daughters, Karen Whitfield and Angela Harney.
Robert leaves to morn five daughters: Vickie Burwell, Teresa (Tim) Martindale, Brandi Grigsby, Alicia (Travis) Thompson and Robbie Grigsby. One son: Rex (Kim) Massey. Granddaughters: Takisha Whitfield, Cherish Franklin, Kenyetta Whitfield, Breelyn Grigsby and Laxaviah Thompson. Grandsons: Stanley Gardner II, Kaleb Gardner, Keegan Potter and Robert Slater. Great-Grandchildren: Bryleigh Sherrell, Daisia Garrison, John Garrison Jr., Dax Sherrell, Na’Keyla Holt, Imani Holt and Elliyanna Holt. Two brothers: Roosevelt Whitfield and Joe Mason Whitfield. A dedicated friend: Ida Harney. Two brother-in-laws: Richard and David Brown.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 18, from 1:00pm until 2:00pm followed by the service at 2:00pm at the Farmers Indian Creek Tabernacle, Elkton, TN. with Pastor Lebann E. Tibbs officiating.
Burial takes place in the Old Union Hill Cemetery, Elkton, Tennessee.
