Mr. Max Hayward Danford, 87, of Huntsville passed away on 11 August 2018 surrounded by his family.
He was born on 15 August 1930 in Ozark. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in combat in the Korean War.
Mr. Danford retired in 1990 after a long and distinguished career with the U.S. Army Missile Command. He served assignments in the Continental U.S., Hawaii, and overseas, including Japan, Taiwan, and Greece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Creola (Woodham) Danford and his son, Joel Benjamin Danford. Mr. Danford is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rebecca Danford of Huntsville; his sons, Charles Hayward Danford of Daphne and Michael Anthony Danford of Huntsville; his daughter Sharon Rebecca Danford (Greg Ferrara) of Huntsville, his granddaughter, Sara (Honey Bunny) Danford Sumner of Huntsville; his great-grandson, Cameron Jackson (Major Marvel) Sumner of Huntsville, and his sisters, Sarah Frances Danford of Ozark, and Barbara Ann Hull of Wiggins, MS.
Honoring Max’s wishes, the family will hold a private service celebrating his life at his home of 45 years in Sherwood Park.
