The memorial service for CJ Strong, age 19 of Cragford, will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lineville with Rev. Holly Woodall, Rev. Rick Talley and Mr. Anthony Stroud officiating. Burial will follow in the Lineville City Cemetery.
CJ passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018. He was a life-long resident of Clay County, a graduate of Central High School of Clay County, Class of 2017, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lineville. CJ was a sophomore at Auburn University where he was a Midshipman 3rd Class in the Naval ROTC program. He had played JV and Varsity football during high school and was involved in the “Incredible Kids” Softball League for special needs children. CJ enjoyed his friends and family – they were his life, especially his big brother Ben, his niece, Brynleigh and his nephew, Creed. He also loved his service with the Naval ROTC.
CJ is survived by his parents, Chris and Lynn Strong of Cragford; his brother, Ben Strong (Kacie) of Lineville; his paternal grandmother, Allene Strong; his niece and nephew, Brynleigh and Creed Strong and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly as well as his “Fam” of many friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Milford Strong; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Gene Whaley and his aunt, Maria Daigneau.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Jordan, Dakota Tidwell, Taner Taylor, Isaiah Williamson, Jacob Lett, Garrett Yates, Trent Freeman, Jud Hill, Cole Worthy, Philip Burdette and Haleigh Ford.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lineville. The family requests no flowers; however memorial contributions may be made to the CJ Strong Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o the First United Methodist Church of Lineville, Post Office Box 175, Lineville, AL 36266.
